Why hello there once more! It's June, like, it really is June. What? Where did the time go? Are we really this close to being halfway through 2025?! It feels like New Years Eve was a few weeks ago - and boy did I write an incredibly emotional scene during the first few days of 2025 - actually saying that I wrote an entire draft of SERIES TWO Episode 1 that week... but I'm jumping way ahead of myself there.

Let's talk about SERIES ONE!

Episode 5! Being written by Lauren, sent me a first draft of that script. And so far so good, it feels very Doctor Who, it's also quite a scary episode, oh and it has emotion, it does emotion so hard! In fact, I was reading the climactic scenes of the episode and I went back to her with and was asking her to push it further, I want trauma!

See I always read the scripts from a viewer/fan POV, how would I discuss this episode after I've read it? Would I be sat there wishing they took more risks? Absolutely. My aim with these scripts is to take Doctor Who further - and no I don't mean rewriting it's past or delving massively into the lore of the show (honestly, leave that bit alone...).

So that's episode 5 - which means Episode 1-4 are complete right? right?? Hah!

No.

Episode 1... oh the joys of Episode 1... I think I've revisited the setting, the plot, the threat, the introductions, the themes, the etc, countless, thousands of times. It's my biggest concern, Episode 1 needs to be just right - Introduce a NEW DOCTOR, introduce a NEW COMPANION, introduce a NEW ERA, easy peasy... NOT. But fear not - I have incredible friends who have since read my first draft, torn it apart with their (constructive) feedback and left me in a puddle of my own tears... I keep telling myself there's plenty of time. However - I've since redrafted the script - today actually - and it's looking much nicer, it's nowhere near where I want it, but, there's plenty of time.

But I have other news! We're planning a podcast, it's at the "in my head" stage. But I thought what a lovely way for the incredible people involved in the project to come together, discuss Doctor Who as a show, ideas and also perhaps reveal a few exclusives for their scripts? So watch this space, and when it moves from the "in my head" stage to the "It's likely to happen" phase I will post some updates! Exciting!

So finally - as we're almost 6 months away from 2026 and the year of DOCTOR WHO REDUX I thought in true RTD fashion I'd share some cryptic highlights of SERIES 1. Ok, First time doing this, so lets go with... a Phrase: "People need people", a mystery: "The Missing" and one of The Doctors new favourite words "MANITOID".
