July Check-in (Updates Galore!)

Hello hello! I know... just about making the end of July with this check-in... I have no real excuses, lots of goings on, work, personal life, blah, blah and well blah!

But excuses aside! I have news, updates to share and exciting developments! Shall we begin?

PODCAST UPDATE

First on the list: the Podcast! - In the last check-in I announced the exciting prospect of a podcast - well besides the fact we've NOT recorded anything yet, we have had some exciting revelations!

Two weekends ago Jack was scheduled, booked by me, to journey across London to my humble abode where we would in fact record the first episode of the podcast. But. Being the perfectionist I am, I decided against it. See, as it stands we would be recording it without a camera, audio only, "that's what a Podcast is" I hear you cry, and without a clear format/direction to go in. I wasn't happy. It needed to be better, it MUST be better. And so. We had a lovely (almost 2 hour) call to discuss the future of the podcast and those prequel stories (more on those below), oh! and the lovely Lauren joined us as well!

We've settled on a date, August the 17th, we will have a sofa, a camera, clip-on mics, Doctor Who Memorabilia and 'Doctor Who - Redux' branded things! Because that's the thing, I am so passionate about this, I want it to be the best thing we can create, after all, there's no profit, there's no gain, just pure exciting passionate storytelling and world building. So yes, we will be recording in August in the hope we either deliver episode 1 by end of the month or in early September!

PREQUEL STORIES

Now these are exciting! Six short stories to compliment the main project, all to be released before the main series scripts kick off! It came about when I wrote a three minute story whilst driving home from work. Not literally. But it came to me on the drive and I wrote it, recorded a mock-up and sent it to several beautiful people once I got home. From this a lovely friend of mine, Veronica and I, had a conversation about how this could actually be included in the project. Thus. The new and exciting addition to the project begun! Lauren and Jack are both on board to write at least one of these each as well!

That is sadly all I can say on these right now, mainly because they're still very early in conception, but if you've read this far you deserve to know that one of the characters in my story is called Pippin. There you go. Tasty and meaningless tease.

PROJECT REDUX

But how is the main project coming along?

Well I told you how the phone call was nearly 2 hours long right? We had lots to discuss. I took both Jack and Lauren through the entirety of Series 1 - Like, we talked in detail about every episode, the character development, the purpose of each story and if everything felt satisfying enough, and I would say it's coming along quite well.

(I spoke briefly of Series 2 and Series 3 too, because yes, it's all planned in my head and partially on paper.)

Though everything is coming along nicely, we do have one small (major) problem... episode 4... we have almost nothing, no writer, a shallow plot and a dose of panic. Thankfully every other episode is well planned and either into or beyond the first draft.

Still, several months to go.

Oh I did write a sad scene though, beautifully sad with doses of happy peppered in, like a scene that makes your eyes wet for several reasons at once. Proud of it. Can't say anymore. Can't wait to share it.

REGULAR UPDATES

Starting on August 17th, every 2 weeks on Saturdays there will be regular updates on the project and going-ons. No more random updates at random times!

As always, thankyou if you've read this far, it really means a lot to know there's even 1 person in the universe that's interested in this project, after all 1 person is just as important as everyone else. I genuinely can't wait to share this project and the stories I and my friends are so passionately proud of.
